Mariah May capped off a breakout year in 2024 by successfully retaining her AEW Women's World Championship on Saturday night over Thunder Rosa in a Tijuana Street Fight.
To do so, The Glamor overcame a ferocious onslaught from her opponent, looking for revenge and her first reign with the gold since 2022. May, as she has all year, played mind games targeting the father of la Rosa at ringside. It took the challenger off her game enough for May to stay in the fight despite the physical toll it took.
Winner of the Owen Hart Classic, the champion leaves 2024 behind after bursting onto the scene in AEW, moving up the ranks in the women's division and winning her first prize while finishing off “Timeless” Toni Storm.
Whether May crosses paths with Storm again remains to be seen, but barring a major injury, there's no reason to believe The Glamor can't replicate the huge success of its first year on television.
